Date on the photo shows the first day of real snow in our area this year. (Last year we had it in November). Snow was not so bad this time, as we got barely an inch, then nothing the next day, although the temperature was below freezing. Then it snowed again, then the temperature warmed up such that the first layer of snow was melting, while another layer was being added.
Our warm roof was melting the first layer of ice, then the cold air freezes the dropping water....the result: icicles.
